The Master Behind the Pen
"A lifetime dedicated to the rhythm of beautiful letterforms."
The Journey of a Mark
In 1977, Harish Chander embarked on his formal path, completing a professional course in Painting and Decoration from ITI (New Delhi). It was here under eminent masters that he first grasped the weight of a stroke and the balance of a void.
Before the world knew him as a calligrapher, he was an explorer. In 1978, he founded Raja Arts, executing prestigious commissions for corporate giants. Yet, his soul sought something more intimate.
The turning point arrived in 1985. A serious study of calligraphy transformed his practice. He immersed himself in the geometry of letters, the alchemy of pigments, and the heritage of global scripts. This obsession culminated in 1995 with the establishment of Calligraphy India, a sanctuary dedicated to preserving the rhythm of the hand in an increasingly digital world.
"Writing as an art form — meaningful marks of beauty that embody integrity, harmony, ancestry, rhythm, and soul."
